R.J. Carrier of Sterling Heights, Mich., was a well-liked personality in CAP 2-7-2. His antics often made things lively in our day sites. Here he is performing the manual of arms with a broom. Before Vietnam, he once told me, he bought a set of Korean War-era Marine utilities and wore them one day in formation. His senior NCO did a classic double-take and said, “CARRIER! You’re not salty enough to wear those utilities! Get ’em off!” “Doc” Doggett is in the background, engrossed in a paperback.
