CAP 2-7-2 ordnance list
Record-keeping was almost non-existent in the CAPs because there was nowhere to keep records aside from somebody’s hip pocket. This type of routine document rarely survived because paper soon turned to mush in the humidity, rain and sweat of life in the ville.
Judging by the names, this list was probably made sometime in April, 1970. Those without a number behind their names carried either the M-60 machine gun or the M-79 grenade launcher.
The name “Perez” is listed with 26 magazines, the most in the CAP. That’s strange, assuming that is “Chon” Perez of Beeville, Texas. I remember him carrying the machine gun, not an M-16, because I was his assistant gunner for awhile. But I think Chon was a rifleman briefly before he rotated.
Of the names on this list, I remember all except Soto, Haven and Escamillo. They were probably not with us long.
